Wildlife Conservation: Managing Endangered Species in Zoos and in the Wild

In this new program presented by the Detroit Zoological Society, we will explore how endangered animal species are managed in zoos through survival plans and the innovative "Frozen Zoo" initiative. In the second part of this program, the class will delve into Michigan's Isle Royale National Park, home to the longest-running predator-prey study, and learn how compassionate conservation is used in wildlife management.
About the Presenter: Bethany is an education specialist at the Detroit Zoo. She holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan and a master's degree from Miami University-Ohio and is currently working on a graduate certificate from the University of California San Diego. She has worked as both a zookeeper and educator at the Georgia Sea Turtle Center on Jekyll Island, Georgia and the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas in New Orleans, Louisiana.
